By the Grace of God, we seek to live and proclaim the good news of reconciliation in Jesus Christ. As part of the one body of Christ at all times and places, we hold the following to be central to our belief and practice:
1. We Give Glory to the Father
God is known to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the Creator who seeks to restore fallen humanity by calling a people to be faithful in fellowship, worship, service, and witness.
As God’s people we want to be faithful in fellowship
As God’s people we want to be faithful in worship
As God’s people we want to be faithful in service.
As God’s people we want to be faithful in witness.
2. We Give Glory to the Son
Jesus is the Son of God. Through his life and teachings, his cross and resurrection, he showed us how to be faithful disciples, he redeemed the world and offers eternal life.
The life of Jesus is our model
The teaching of Jesus gives us orientation
The resurrection of Jesus gives us hope
The faithfulness of Jesus enables us to be faithful
The way of Jesus redeems the world
Whoever is united to Jesus has eternal life
3. We Give Glory to the Holy Spirit
As a church, we are a community of those of whom God’s spirit calls to turn from sin, acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord, receive baptism upon our confession of faith, and follow Christ in life.
Wherever the Holy Spirit works, people turn away from sin
Wherever the Holy Spirit convinces, people acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord
Wherever the Holy Spirit takes hold of human life people confess their faith through baptism
Whoever belongs to the church of the Holy Spirit wants to follow Christ in life
4. We Read the Bible together
As a faith community, we accept the Bible as our authority for faith and life, interpreting it together under Holy Spirit guidance, in the light of Jesus Christ to discern God’s will for our obedience.
This History and this information is the authority for our faith and life
In order to understand the Bible’s meaning for today we need each other
In order to understand the Bible’s meaning for today, we need the Holy Spirit
Jesus Christ gives light to interpreting the Bible
Together in community, we seek to discern and to do the will of God
5. We Pursue Shalom
The Spirit of Jesus empowers us to trust God in all areas of life so we become peacemakers who renounce violence, love our enemies, seek justice, and share our possessions with those in need.
To be different from the world, we need to entrust all areas of our lives to God
We believe that peacemaking is a blessed duty
There is no peace without unconditionally loving our enemies.
There is no lasting peace without the pursuit of justice
A Christian culture of peace enables us to share possessions
6. We Worship and Celebrate Together
We gather regularly to worship, to celebrate the Lord’s Supper, and to hear the Word of God in spirit of mutual accountability.
Worship is the main reason for Christian meetings
The celebration of the Lord’s Supper and baptism are powerful experiences
We get together so that God may speak to us and we might listen
We make major decisions together in a spirit of shared responsibility
7. We are a Worldwide Family
As a worldwide community of faith and life, we transcend boundaries of nationality, race, class, gender, and language. We seek to live in the world without conforming to the power of evil, witness to God’s grace by serving others, caring for creation, and inviting all people to know Jesus Christ as Savor and Lord.
Christian community is not limited by nationalities
Christian community is not limited by ethnicity, race, or language.
Christian community is not segregated by class or gender.
In the midst of the world, Christians oppose the power of evil.
In the middle of the world, Christians witness to the transforming grace of God.
Because God is love, we want to live a life of service
Because we have hope, we want to care for creation
Because we have faith, we invite all people to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
In these convictions we draw inspiration from Anabaptist forebears of the 16th century, who modeled radical discipleship to Jesus Christ. We seek to walk in his name by the power of the Holy Spirit, as we confidently await Christ’s return and the final fulfillment of God’s kingdom.
